TOS V-Day 2k8 Contest

Ok, our next giveaway is underway. As the TOS community is still relatively small and because this comes out of my own pockets and said pockets are pretty thin, this will be kind of a small contest. Based on participation (and if anyone gives me money) the amount of the prize may increase.

The Prize: A $10 Amazon.com gift card.

The Contest: As I mentioned, the TOS community is still small, but growing. As such, this contest should help us grow a little faster. To enter the contest you need to refer three (3) people to TOS and have those people post HERE with your member name and actively participate in discussion around the site.

No, you may not cheat and sign up for multiple accounts yourself to gain entry. "Active Participation" of your referrals will be determined by site staff but will not be too stringent. Basically, if your referral posts in the referral thread, posts "Hi, I'm _____" in the new member forum and that's it then they're not actively participating in discussion. It's a pretty common sense thing.

Your referrals may also participate in the contest. Tell your mom, your dad, your neighbor, your brother, your dog, your bartender, whatever. It's your forum and the more members we have here the better discussions we can get going.

Closing Date: The TOS V-Day 2k8 contest will end on the 14th of February 2008. Be sure to have all of your referrals make a post stating that you referred them HERE by that date. The winner will be randomly chosen from the pool of members who qualify for entry provided that five (5) or more users qualify for the prize. If four (4) or fewer users participate in the contest, one (1) user will be chosen randomly for a $5 Amazon.com gift certificate.

Other Notes:Want a better prize? Then send me money. Hell, if you want send me money anyway to help subsidize the contest. That $10 could be a box of ammo or some guitar strings in my hands. I don't get any money from the forum, I'm not going to get the gift card, and I'm broke. A free $10 from Amazon isn't a bad deal. If you want to give me money, send me a PM. If I get more money than the current prize value, the prize value will be increased to that amount. Don't trust me? Don't worry, my feelings aren't hurt. I wouldn't send money to some guy on the Internet either.

Oh, and for music history, this contest can be a big F-You to the music-hating Iranian government who, as reported on February 14th 1958 by Walter Cronkite, banned rock and roll for being unhealthy and anti-Islamic. The "unhealthy" claim is backed by Iranian doctors who warn of hip damage due to "extreme gyrations."
